Anchor text is the text of a link that you actually click to
get redirected to other website.

Example of backlink and Anchor Text
In this example I will take two websites names both have web pages.
My 1st example website name is xyz.com and 2nd website
name is abc.com. Author or admin of abc.com visited to xyz.com and he liked the
information that was written in xyz.com so he decided to write a page related
to that information in his website abc.com and he also gives the credit to
xyz.com by mentioning its url in the text with anchor text on it.
Now the text on which the visitor of abc.com clicks which
take him to xyz.com website is called as anchor text.
For example the topic of webpage was best ice-cream flavor in
Sydney.
At last abc.com write in the end of his article that the
information gathered was on the behalf on “best ice cream reviews” the best ice cream review is embedded with the link xyz.com.
Now we can say “best ice cream review” is known as anchor text and embedded
xyz.com is the backlink for the website xyz.com.
Why backlink is considered as a crucial step
for SEO.
Google gives a vote for your per backlink, increase in the no
of backlinks means increase in no of votes given by google and hence higher PageRank and better SERP results. Backlinks is the indication of
popularity and importance of that webpage with the help of which Google
determines PageRank of a webpage and index it accordingly in SERP results.
Things to consider before creating a
backlink
Be periodic:
create your backlinks in periodic way. If you are creating
links of your website on other websites than the numbers of links created per
week should be periodic and consistent in nature. For eg. You are creating 10
links per week than your same strategy must follow other week.
Anchor Tags Optimization:
Optimization
of anchor tags with specific keywords of same niche is a crucial step to
follow. If you are not optimizing it accordingly than you backlink strategy
will not give you the desired results.
For example you are creating anchor text for a web page which has text related to room service and you want that page to be optimized for a keyword “hotel room service in Sydney”

Than your
anchor text must be “hotel room service in Sydney” and you can vary the text
according to keywords.
Note: Do not
over optimize your anchor text while creating backlinks . Here over
optimization means you must not create and use the same keywords again and
again in while creating backlinks instead you can use the synonyms of the
keywords.
Pointing your
website on unique domains.
Don’t create backlinks on same domain use unique domains.
Here unique domains mean different domains.
Thing to consider: Your backlink must be created on the
domain with same interest area. For example you have a website related to astrology
and you must create the backlinks of your website on the forums, blogs,
directories etc related to Astrology. If you create the backlink on sports website
it might get your website penalized by Google and all your hard work will go in
vain.
